2024 Tentative Rec League Schedule & Info

All dates and info are subject to change, but here is the current plan for the 2024 Seekonk Girls Softball Season:

LOCATIONS

All Practices and Home Games are played in Seekonk at Cole Street Fields (Martin School)

Instructional & Junior Divisions (K-Grade 2) do not play "road games" against other towns.

The Minor Division (Grade 3-5) and Major Division (Grade 6-8) are likely to play a few games in neighboring towns (possibly Darlington/Pawtucket)

Official Game Schedule is all TBD depending on number of players that register, number of teams we end up with, and neighboring towns' interest/availablity.

PRACTICES

The practices usually start in beginning-to-mid April depending on the weather and when the town gives us the official go-ahead to use the fields.

SEASON START

The season would tentatively begin the week of April 29.

SEASON / GAMES - INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION

Once the season begins, teams traditionally play 2 games per week - once during the week and once on Saturday mornings, Our Instructional Division may start out with a "clinic" session during the week for all Instructional players and one game on Saturday mornings to incorporate the skills the players learn during the weekly clinics.

SEASON / GAMES - MINOR & MAJOR DIVISIONS

Once the season begins, practices generally come to an end and from that point on, each team usually plays 2 games a week - one on Saturday mornings and one during the week at 6:00pm from Monday - Thursday. (We usually hold Fridays for rain-out dates, just in case.)  No games are scheduled on Sundays or on Memorial Day Weekend. Note that all teams are welcome to continue to hold practices throughout the season, pending field availability.

Each team usually plays a total of 12-14 games, including playoff games for the Minor and possibly Major Divisions.

The season usually ends the second week of June.

EQUIPMENT

All players will need a fielding glove and cleats.  The league supplies bats and balls. This year, as we have the past couple of years, we are recommending that all players provide their own helmets for sanitary purposes. It is recommended that Minor and Major Division players wear fielding masks, especially in the infield.

UNIFORMS

All players will receive a team uniform shirt to be worn at all games. Stirrup-printed socks will also be provided.  Players provide their own pants, which can be anything that is comfortable to play in (and something that can get dirty) - players typcially wear things such as actual softball pants, sweatpants, or leggings.

COACHES

All coaches and assistant coaches are volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to be either a coach or assistant coach, please drop us a line at [email protected]
